KPMG Launches Internal Dashboard to Track Employee AI Tool Usage

KPMG has introduced an internal dashboard to monitor how frequently employees use artificial intelligence tools, as part of a broader effort to integrate AI into daily work processes across its US advisory division.
The system sets a 75 per cent AI usage target for many employees and enables staff to track their activity against internal benchmarks. Employees can review their usage patterns, compare adoption levels with peers, and assess alignment with company expectations.
The dashboard consolidates activity data from both internal and external AI platforms, including tools such as Microsoft 365 Copilot. The initiative reportedly covers around 10,000 employees and reflects a growing trend among organisations to measure AI adoption as part of workplace productivity strategies.
According to the company, a significant portion of its workforce already uses AI tools weekly. KPMG said increased AI adoption can help employees improve efficiency, reduce repetitive tasks, and focus more on higher-value work.
The rollout comes amid wider efforts within the consulting sector to improve productivity while increasing investments in emerging technologies. Company leadership has indicated that AI capabilities are becoming an essential component of employee effectiveness.
Employees at KPMG have access to several AI systems, including the firm’s aIQ Chat platform, which connects with models such as OpenAI’s ChatGPT, Anthropic’s Claude, and Google’s Gemini. The company also uses its Digital Gateway platform for specialised AI-related tasks.
The monitoring initiative has generated discussion among some employees, with concerns raised about whether usage metrics accurately capture meaningful productivity. Critics have pointed to the possibility of inflated activity tracking and limitations in measuring advanced AI workflows.
KPMG said the dashboard is designed to encourage AI adoption rather than enforce compliance. The firm has also introduced incentive programmes and research partnerships aimed at supporting more effective and responsible AI usage across its workforce.
