Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages to Lay Off Around 300 Employees Amid Restructuring

Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages (HCCB), the bottling arm of Coca-Cola India, is set to reduce its workforce by around 300 employees, affecting at least four per cent of its approximately 5,000-strong staff base. The layoffs will span multiple departments, including supply chain, sales, distribution and operations.
The move is part of an effort to simplify operations and improve margins across HCCB’s 15 manufacturing plants in India, which handle the bottling and distribution of brands such as Thums Up, Sprite and Coca-Cola. Over the past year, the company has scaled back its direct operations in states including Bihar, Rajasthan and parts of West Bengal, where distribution has since been handed over to franchise partners.
According to reports, the company has indicated that the job cuts are limited in scale and are unlikely to disrupt operations. The reduction in headcount has been described as the outcome of periodic business reviews aimed at maintaining resilience in a highly competitive market.
The restructuring follows a challenging financial year for HCCB. In 2025, the company reported a 73 per cent decline in net profit to ₹756.64 crore, while operational revenue reportedly fell by nine per cent.
Globally, Coca-Cola’s bottling operations have also seen workforce reductions. In September this year, Coca-Cola Beverages South Africa announced plans to cut at least 600 jobs, adding to layoffs by several large employers in the country amid rising unemployment.
The latest development reflects the broader pressures faced by beverage manufacturers as they recalibrate operations in response to slowing growth and intense competition.
