FedEx to Lay Off 856 Employees as Texas Facility Prepares to Close
FedEx has announced plans to lay off approximately 856 employees at its Coppell, Texas facility, which is scheduled to close in about five months. The layoffs will take place in phases beginning in January 2026.
According to the company, the closure is tied to a customer’s decision to shift its business to a different location and partner with another third-party logistics provider. As a result, operations at FedEx Supply Chain Logistics & Electronics Inc. in Coppell will be discontinued.
Employees have been informed in advance to allow time to prepare for the transition. FedEx stated that some affected workers may be able to pursue other roles within the organisation, while others will receive severance benefits and job placement assistance based on company policy and eligibility.
Earlier this year, FedEx announced another round of layoffs affecting more than 200 employees in Lebanon, located in the Nashville area of Tennessee. Those job cuts, carried out between 9 May and 30 May, followed the company’s decision to discontinue services for customers in that region. At the time, FedEx said it attempted to reassign impacted employees to other facilities or help them explore alternative internal opportunities.
As with previous actions, workers at the Coppell facility were notified well in advance to reduce uncertainty ahead of the layoff process.
