Samsung Expands DOST Sales Programme to Train 9,400 Youth for Retail Careers

Samsung has expanded its DOST (Digital & Offline Skills Training) Sales Programme with plans to train 9,400 young people from underserved communities for careers in India’s organised retail sector. The initiative seeks to develop a job-ready talent pool while supporting inclusive economic growth.
The new phase, DOST Sales 4.0, builds on the programme launched in 2021 and continues in partnership with the Electronics Sector Skills Council of India and the Telecom Sector Skills Council. The expansion aims to address the rising demand for skilled retail professionals as digital adoption and consumer expectations increase nationwide.
Shubham Mukherjee, head of CSR and corporate communications at Samsung Southwest Asia, said the programme is structured to equip young jobseekers for modern retail environments. He noted that training enrolments have risen significantly this year, indicating a growing interest in formal skilling pathways. According to him, DOST is contributing to the development of an employment-ready workforce as the retail sector continues to evolve.
Trainees begin with a 120-hour online foundation course, followed by 60 hours of practical sessions conducted by Samsung retail trainers. The curriculum covers communication skills, customer engagement, retail operations, product demonstrations, and sales processes. Participants then undergo a five-month on-the-job learning period at Samsung stores across the country, where they receive a stipend and hands-on customer-facing experience.
Candidates who successfully pass the assessment receive a National Skills Qualifications Framework (NSQF) certification, enhancing their prospects for long-term employment in the consumer electronics retail industry.
Vinod Sharma of ESSCI said the collaboration promotes strong skilling pathways for youth. Lieutenant General K. H. Gawas, CEO of TSSC, added that the programme complements the country’s growing digital economy.
With DOST Sales 4.0, Samsung aims to strengthen its contribution to India’s talent development landscape by expanding access to structured training, career opportunities, and pathways for upward mobility in the retail sector.
