LTIMindtree Deploys 1,500 AI-Enabled Digital Employees Across Key Functions

LTIMindtree has introduced nearly 1,500 AI-enabled “digital employees” across its finance, infrastructure operations and customer service functions, marking one of the largest internal AI deployments within India’s IT services sector.
These AI agents are assigned identities, profiles and AI-generated avatars, and the company says they are trained, supervised and evaluated in ways similar to human staff. LTIMindtree noted that these digital personas will continue to evolve, and some may be phased out if they do not meet performance standards.
The introduction of these agents supports LTIMindtree’s nonlinear growth strategy, which focuses on increasing revenue without proportional additions to its workforce. In the first half of FY26, the company generated more than $64 million in incremental revenue and achieved over two per cent growth, even as lateral headcount declined. During the same period, the organisation reduced lateral hiring by nearly 1,900 employees while accelerating fresher recruitment to strengthen its talent pyramid.
Over the next five years, LTIMindtree aims to nearly double its revenue, though headcount is projected to increase by only 1.2 to 1.3 times. This growth model is supported by reskilling initiatives and the transition of employees from governance-heavy roles to delivery functions. Despite a smaller lateral workforce, the company reports that teams have continued to manage increased business volumes, suggesting gains in productivity from its AI-driven operating model.
In addition to internal operations, LTIMindtree has created AI agents for leadership and business functions, including virtual assistants for HR, sales and the office of the CEO. One sales-focused agent, built using Microsoft’s Copilot platform, helps teams identify insights and locate relevant case studies from global client engagements.
As LTIMindtree expands its AI integration, the company describes its digital employees as a new category of coworkers designed to complement human teams, reshape operational roles and enhance delivery capabilities within the IT services industry.
