Samsung Introduces $10,000 Adoption Benefit to Support Employees’ Family-Building Choices

Samsung Electronics has announced a new adoption benefit for employees, expanding its family-support and inclusion-focused initiatives. Under the new policy, the company will provide a one-time payment of $10,000 to employees who adopt a child, regardless of their benefits plan tier. The benefit will take effect from January.
The company said the move reflects its commitment to supporting diverse family structures and evolving employee needs. Samsung’s people team noted that employees increasingly expect workplaces to recognise and accommodate different paths to parenthood, including adoption. The benefit is intended to help offset the financial costs associated with adoption and give employees greater flexibility in building their families.
The adoption payout is part of Samsung’s broader diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) strategy. In recent years, the company has introduced several measures aimed at improving equity and access to benefits, including gender-affirmation healthcare coverage, equal parental leave for all genders, and the addition of a Sharia-compliant investment option within its group retirement savings plan.
Samsung said changing workforce demographics and expectations highlighted a gap in its existing benefits framework, prompting the introduction of adoption support. The company believes the new benefit will strengthen its employee value proposition by promoting inclusion, family well-being and long-term workplace support.
The adoption benefit is expected to contribute to Samsung’s efforts to enhance employee experience and attract and retain diverse talent across its global operations.
